About Us
May our Rabb Al-Ghafur, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Rahim– guide all those who work with people who have no one to work for them – give us success in all our efforts Amin. Many will say that working with inmates is a thankless, useless job, however only death will keep a human being from the possibility of changing their lives. So, one more time we have found ourselves, our energies and our spirits drawn to the struggle for those who live in chains and have no voice.
In the Muslim community in America, some of the strongest, most dedicated Muslims in our Jama’at are frequently those who came from some of the darkest places in this decadent society. They have used the Qur’an and the Sunnah to reform their lives. If no other community sees the value of this work we should. If no one else in the world understands that our Rabb Al-Mutawwib, Al-Hadi can change the condition of anyone if they change the condition of themselves we should know this and know this well. It is imperative that we – Muslims – pick up the pace in this desperate struggle to help those who have found themselves in the most humiliating of circumstances.
"The believers, men and women, are Auliyâ' (helpers, supporters, friends, protectors) of one another, they enjoin (on the people) Al-Ma'rûf (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam orders one to do), and forbid (people) from Al-Munkar (i.e. polytheism and disbelief of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden); they perform As-Salât and give the Zakât, and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah will have His Mercy on them. Surely Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise."
